1 EXCELLENT EYE MAKEUP REMOVER

December 28, 2007

Product name : Body Shop Gentle Chamomile Eye Makeup Remover Gel.

7 Reasons why:

1. It is a gel, rather than an oily or slippery liquid. No product is wasted soaking into the pad or tissue.

2. Because the gel stays on top of the pad, no pressure is needed to transfer enough product from the pad to the skin, and makeup just slips off.

3. Again, since this is not a greasy liquid, this product doesn’t get into your eyes. Liquid removers seep into the eyes. It is very irritating. Their very consistency tends to be somewhat slimy so they slip around even more readily than water.

4. Every bit of makeup is removed with no friction or pulling on the skin. If some mascara stays behind, I do not buy that type of mascara again, but these are the minority.

5. It is neither heavy or greasy, and rinses away easily and completely (since I use a cleanser on the rest of my face after I’ve removed the eye makeup).

6. It comes in a soft plastic, gravity-fed tube which is my favorite container for skin product. There is less likelihood of contamination and you use it all up rather than leaving a lot behind as you do with pump containers. You choose how much to apply at each use, as opposed to pre-soaked pads.

7. I choose the type of pad. I like Puffs with Lotion tissues. They are very soft and cushiony, and do not fall apart in removing the makeup. Since I economize to the point of being cheap (can I blame this on my Hungarian heritage?), I just use ½ a tissue. Works just grand, very comfortable, very effective.

This is one of the few products that I am loyal to, and there are not many of those. There are many excellent products out there, all with their own strengths. I can’t comment on the other Body Shop eye makeup removers because I’ve never bought them; why would I? One is a liquid, which I dislike, as you know. This one is outstanding.

There are women out there who agree. Here are some reviews at Epinions.com for this product. One of the reviews is very thorough and I entirely concur with what is said.

I’m having more difficulty finding this product lately. There is a waterproof gel version and a liquid version but I hesitate to buy them till I have no choice. I wonder if the waterproof gel is really a different product or just a different package/product name. If Paula were listening and could come out with a product like the original, so we would no longer have to search for it, now wouldn’t that be great?

Now and again, I find a great one that I continue to buy. Occasionally, I am lured off the path into the forest. For this makeup remover, I have always found my way back on my own.
